So we actually did it - we arrived in Taupo yesterday and were soaking in Huka Falls and then the next thing we knew we were getting into a shuttle bus and on our way to SKY DIVE. OMG - not even sure how this all came to be but what an experience! we were the last load of the day and were so nervous leading up to it and when the door of the plane opening and the wind came rushing in and we were #1 and #2 - forget about it. But what a cool thing to do in the sky diving capital of the world that does over 30,000 jumps/year. And the scenery - unlike anything I have seen before all at once. Rainbows in the clouds, Lake Taupo (the largest crater lake in the world), the coastline, mountains, volcanos --pure gorgeousness! I would be lying if I said that I didn't get a bit sick on the floating part which suprised me and kinda threw me for a loop the rest of the night but WE DID IT - what a rush and cool thing to check off of our lists that we didn't even know would ever make it on.
Today we arrived in Wellington - which is the sister city of SF - and so pretty. We aren't here long but are meeting up with a friend of a friend tonight and then catching the early morning ferry through the Marlborough Sounds and into Picton - our journey in the south island which everyone is raving about begins then.
Ahhhh - New Zealand is bliss (aka heaps of fun)
