Our wedding continued

I remember seeing so many loving faces in the crowd - most so familiar to me. People that traveled from near and far to be there. I could hear the locust and the water and loved seeing Dan smiling and al decked out at the end of the isle. Rick did such a great job with the ceremony. He had us look around and remember what we saw. He was funny and sweet and everything could not have gone better. After the sand ceremony and exchanging rings and vows, we were pronounced husband and wife and could finally kiss. Hall and Oates "Because Your Kiss is on My List" played and everyone beamed - most of all us who managed to pull this whole thing off in just a few weeks with a lot of help from a lot of people. And that was that. We walked hand-in-hand back down the "isle" and then quite frankly were not quite sure what to do since we didn't have any type of rehearsal. I have always heard how quickly the day goes by - and it did but mostly I just wished there was more time to spend talking to everyone. It was a beautiful evening and dinner was set out just after our ceremony. We took some group photos down by the bay and then mingled and did our best to see everyone. I liked how laid back and fairly simple it was. Many commented on the sweetness of the day and how perfect it was. The rest of the night was a little bit of a blur. We cut the cake and fed little bites nicely to each other. Some folks started leaving around that time needing to get back to Ocean City or Richmond or other places. There was definitely a late night crew assembled in the kitchen and one outside as well. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves. I love saying my husband and have started the whole name change process which isn't so fun but its not so horrible either. The day after the wedding, we had a wonderful brunch hosted by Dan's parents and most of the family and a few friends (Christina, Heather and Suzy) joined. Sunday afternoon the house quieted and we were able to sit back and enjoy and talk about the past 24 hours and how smoothly it all went. We sat in our chairs overlooking the water and soaked up a little bit of the sun. We took advantage of the house that we had until Monday and heated up leftovers from Blue Rooster and took our plates out to the dock to eat and watch the sunset.

Wedding weekend!

I am now a married woman. Became Mrs. Daniel Kerr yesterday around 6:30 pm in Cape Saint Claire on the water in a touching and heartfelt ceremony conducted by Rick and surrounded by so much love and support. It could not have gone any more perfectly even if we had been planning for months and years instead of weeks! We found a house online that appeared to have the perfect backyard for what we had in mind and arrived Friday afternoon with Christina, a few bottles of wine and speakers in tow only to find out that the owner of the house lives right next store! This was a bit stressful because we were way over our 50 person limit for a party at 1403 bay head road...and getting responses almost up until the day of. Friday night we spent a bit getting the lay of the land of our home away from home for the weekend and then ventured to Smokehouse for a dinner, Bay Ridge for more vino and a random grocery trip that I'm sure Christina will never forget (ha). I was totally able to surprise her by the way - and it was awesome. She thought I was joking and doubted that we could pull it off so beautifully. But there are things that really do take a village - and I am blessed enough to have one. I even had some down time and was able to relax on my wedding day. Saturday morning I was woken up by Dan who had spent the night at his parents and he gave me a beautiful bracelet. I can't help but smile every time I see it. Had some breakfast with Christina and people soon started arriving. Once afternoon hit, things started going by very quickly and before I knew it I was upstairs having my make-up and hair done by Lindsay and there were people walking up the drive and voices floating up the stairs and the excitement of a life-changing event. I was able to come down for a bit before the ceremony and see people and grab a little something to eat. There were so many people to chat with and it is amazing to think that they are all here from near and far to see Dan and I tie the knot. Around 5:30 pm I went upstairs with the girls to slip in to my wedding dress. I won't soon forget Mom and Joanne crying off to the side once I put it on or the rightness that I felt though out the day - not nerves, not anything but just knowing that the skies cleared and we were exactly where we were supposed to be. When it was time for Dad and I to walk down the aisle, after being so composed, I definitely lost it and felt the emotion and the love and just knowing the Dan was waiting for me - it all just hit me and I cried and cried and cried happy tears streaming down my newly made up face. To be continued...
